Black Widow reactions

Question for people who saw it or have been discussing it. Hope this isn't too late in the day for most of you. I've noticed a massive apathetic response to this movie, which is really disappointing. I honestly loved it. I thought it was a different take on the Marvel films. Am I alone in thinking this? Yeah I get that Marvel/comic book movie fatigue is a thing, but come on.

I haven't seen it but plan to by next week (possibly on my day off, at a time when the theatre isn't crowded, as is my usual plan for Marvel movies. I ain't giving Disney more money than I'm already giving them). I hear lots of good things about it and am looking forward to it.

As somebody who's mostly very wishy-washy on Marvel movies, I thought it was *totally* a bog-standard Marvel movie, and it was generally the biggest problem with the film. All of the action was the exact same style of flashy, busy action sequences that are in every Marvel movie. There was the same quippy, snarky humor even when it felt like it didn't fit with the tone of a scene. And it felt like the beginning and ending of the film have to spend a ton of time telling us where and how it fits into Marvel chronology, and those scenes completely broke up the pacing of the film.

I didn't even hate the movie, but it was absolutely a typical Marvel movie to me, I don't agree at all that it was a different take.

Remember back in 2019 when there was a secret reading "There was a time I would have LOVED Black Widow and Morbius movies. That time was 2015."

That's how I feel. It's like it's trying to capitalize on a moment that had expired even BEFORE the pandemic pushed it back 18 months. I'm going to see it tonight, I'm positivize I'll enjoy it, but I haven't been excited for this movie at any stage.

I loved it. The people who have panned it don’t even say why they disliked it other than to say that it’s more of the same. It’s just not true. All that means is that none of the characters captured their imagination. They just didn’t care about them. It drives me crazy.
