I would totally love a series set among the ancient Maya or even Aztecs.

Realistically though, who could make and act in a historical series set among the ancient Mayas or Aztecs without getting shredded for cultural appropriation or racism in the current climate? Even if it's the best researched, most historically accurate depiction. Anything involving indigenous people would be a nightmare from a PR and marketing angle, I suspect (unless it's non-fiction like documentaries).
