...I seem to remember getting some of those in Wild World. I guess at that point they were still trying to pretend the game was marketed at children rather than burned out adults (the true fandom, hahah), so it would've made sense to have large words marked as unusual...?

And there was a bit of a huff in the Pocket Camp fandom (the mobile game) with a similar issue the first time they did a valentine's event and you could choose one animal to give a valentine to, and the animal would give you a special item with a letter in return. The cranky type animals' letters said something about how "you forced your friendship on me" and I think "I'll never forgive you for that" - and clearly it was meant to be funny because these characters just don't want to admit they like anyone or anything, but some people were really upset.

So you're not alone! And while the games have come a long, long way since the GC version, cranky animals are still pretty cranky. XD

I think what makes Colin acceptable as a comedic device is that all of us (most of us?) have genuinely encountered someone where it feels like they're draining your energy because they're just so hard/miserable/whatever to speak to.

I don't think that works so much as a serious device because as an actual concept, as in an actual energy vampire, it's a bit too farcical for something that actually has real-world grounding. Conversely, the traditional blood sucking vampires are firmly in the realms of fantasy and can be more terrifying as an idea than just John from Accounts whinging at you.

Hopefully sleeping. (Bunny is still not well, recheck at vet today ... also did not go well, long story.) Also hopefully finishing up the armor for the cosplay I have in progress, and making some good progress on the insane wig.

If I'm lucky, getting a few Heracross or a shiny Palkia in Pokemon Go.

It never occurs to me that Jasmine is suppose to be 16 - but then again the concept of age is wild in the older Disney movies going backwards from the 90s. Like I found out that Snow White is suppose to be 14 years old a couple of weeks ago when she just doesn't seem remotely like a teenager.
