My first encounter with Animal Crossing was when my SO showed me his old save on his GameCube and let me play, and I instantly loved it.

Because I thought it was cute, I decided to write every villager a nice, personal letter in the game. I put actual effort into them, and excitedly awaited the replies!

What I got was a string of angry letters where every single villager scolded me for being rude and writing “weird” letters with “words they didn’t understand”. It wasn’t exactly traumatizing, but it was kind of a downer.

So to this day, whenever I write a letter in any Animal Crossing, I make sure to use only the babyest of baby words (“I like you! You’re nice!”) to make sure it doesn’t happen again lol.

But also to this day, I kind of wonder WTF I wrote to set off this response. Obviously, I wasn’t using profanity or anything, so I legit have no idea.

...I seem to remember getting some of those in Wild World. I guess at that point they were still trying to pretend the game was marketed at children rather than burned out adults (the true fandom, hahah), so it would've made sense to have large words marked as unusual...?

And there was a bit of a huff in the Pocket Camp fandom (the mobile game) with a similar issue the first time they did a valentine's event and you could choose one animal to give a valentine to, and the animal would give you a special item with a letter in return. The cranky type animals' letters said something about how "you forced your friendship on me" and I think "I'll never forgive you for that" - and clearly it was meant to be funny because these characters just don't want to admit they like anyone or anything, but some people were really upset.

So you're not alone! And while the games have come a long, long way since the GC version, cranky animals are still pretty cranky. XD

I know you're not blaming their wives, but my understanding is that the bad blood is because William cheated on his wife and Harry didn't approve. And the tabloid press transferred this to Meghan and Kate because the tabloid press sucks and had chosen Meghan as their "heel" a long time ago.

I thought it was very good but I never want to see it again. It's one of the most profoundly depressing movies I've ever seen. I went with a rich girl who didn't get why it was upsetting. When I said I identified too strongly with it to enjoy it, she actually said "Oh, well I like deep things so I liked it." /shrug

Fantom Events is doing showings of The Labyrinth for the 35th Anniversary but they only ever do showings on like Sunday, Monday, Wednesday. It annoys the hell out of me because I'd love to see their events but since I like 3+ hours away from a theater doing it, I can't since I have work. DO THEM ON SATURDAY DAMNIT!
