...honestly, do you think you're "not supposed" to feel anything positive for the rich family? Or see them as humans? Really? The film has shown you all those things, they were purposefully included in the script - we were meant to notice them. The only member of the family who is really depicted in a negative way is the father (and it clinches mostly by the end).

On-line discourse about the film is not the same as what "we ought to get from the film".
