Agreed. It can be very hard, that's true. But if it's making you unhappy, you need to cut it loose. And online fandom is one of the easiest things in life to stop doing IMO.

You can't just quit a miserable job, because bills need paying. You can't just leave a relationship because maybe you've got a place together or you've got kids. Even other hobbies might mean losing money on classes or equipment you've paid for, or maybe people are counting on you to be in that play and you can't just walk out.

With online fandom you can just stop. Stop watching, reading. Unfollow, block if necessary.
