Those of you who watch Kdramas...
(Anonymous) 2021-08-12 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)* coughing blood
* self-sacrificing female characters who are expected to suffer for their love interests
* very poorly developed or limited female characters
* male leads who aren't exactly the greatest in their treatment of women
I'd love to hear some examples of what I might expect from Kdramas, if anyone can help!

(Anonymous) 2021-08-13 01:05 am (UTC)(link)There's the fucking slow-mo three different angles of the same scene (usually a kiss, the guy grabbing the girl and looking into her eyes... intensely? menacingly? Etc etc) that shit gets me every time (and the occasional wall pinning out of no where like wtf is that, we're about to have some problems you come at me like that lol).
Usual jerk dude/men who have issues communicating (but this is common across all media).
I've only seen two historical ones, the rest were contemporary.
Historical ones:
Scarlet Heart Ryeo (my fave!)
Mr. Queen (although technically it's a dude who gets transported through time into the body of a queen)
The Scholar of the Night
Contemporary ones:
Oh My Venus! (Love this one)
Her Private Life
What's wrong with Secretary Kim?
My roommate is a Gumiho
And a few others. The ones I watch tend to be romantic comedy not very DRAMATIC.
As a complete aside, since it's Japanese dramas, I just want to share the beauty that is Dean Fujioka -- so for anyone interested in seeing his beautiful self walking around in the early 2000s fashion,i offer May I Blackmail You? (It's not particularly good, but the lead lady is sweet and generous and he just doesn't understand her kindness).

(Anonymous) 2021-08-13 04:45 am (UTC)(link)Mr. Queen seems to be a newish title, sounds interesting. Is it slash, het or gen?
Re: Those of you who watch Kdramas...
(Anonymous) 2021-08-13 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)It's a bit of het/gen (i guess slash in a way? Idk. Only because mentally/spiritual the Queen is a dude but physically the Queen is a woman. Also, I can't quite remember if there were any "jokes"/comments/suggestions made that were teetering on homophobia/transphobia etc., But just a heads up, in case there were :/ ).
Re: Those of you who watch Kdramas...
(Anonymous) 2021-08-13 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)The summary looks interesting. Kinda your usual detective series with two leads.

kimchi
Romantic series tend to have Second Male Lead thingy.
Depends on genre really. The series are 16-20 ep. There are good and bad, same as cDramas. The old are always right and youths have to respect them is the one that bothers me a lot. Characters always have their phones and use it a lot on screen. Drinking.
I kinda prefer the sound of Chinese to Korean so I might watch cDramas subbed and kDramas dubbed.
