lol that's fair - I think I was going into my emo/goth phase post-reading Anne Rice's vampire chronicles and projected a whole other character onto Snape at the time that made me pretty much ignore how much of an asshole he was in the books.

Funnily enough the reason I could never get into Harry/Draco was because I got horribly bullied at school and couldn't wrap my head around any pairing that was based on characters in a bullying/bullied relationship. But yeah its worse when the teachers do that to their students.
