I don't know if this happens to other people or if my brain works a bit oddly in this regard, but when I'm thinking or talking about someone, I frequently forget that I know other people with the same name. For instance, I have a friend named Emily and a relative named Emily, and when I'm thinking/talking about one then the other one doesn't even occur to me. It's only when people I'm conversing with and who know both Emilys look at me funny that I realize I need to clarify which one I mean.
