Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists refuse to accept the terminology trans people use about themselves. A trans woman is not a woman to them, that person is always the sex they were born with, wearing clothes associated with a different sex. A 'man in drag'.

People who are... aggressive... about not understanding the terminology ace people use, who persistently reframe that as something lesser, or claim that they're making an unnecessary fuss when they use specific terms 'when doesn't the vague one work okay?' - come from a similar place of refusing a subset of humanity its right to define itself. (Yes. I know that trans people have it so much worse, in the general way of things.)

I suspect a lot of those people who are so aggressive (as opposed to being unfamiliar with the language) are acting on a knee-jerk reflex and not thinking about it too deeply.

But their behaviour - from the outside - looks a lot like TERF tactics. They fundamentally don't believe other people have the right to define themselves or use language meaningful to them, and they are likely projecting their personal issues onto the situation.

I wish I were making this up.

Thank you. This "oh so they're best friends, you mean" pushback was frankly baffling to me, and at first I just eye-rolled but the further down the thread I got, the more uncomfortable I felt.

I was wondering why people were being such buttheads about queerplatonic. I have a queerplatonic mate (we're both bi and aro, she's ace). We are all but married. We share accounts. She's in my will. Do you have to have sex to be mated to someone?

The TERF comparison is extremely valid given the Venn Diagram of ace/bi/pan exclusionists and TERFs being a virtual circle.

Your reading comprehension skills are pretty lacking.
