Sadly, this doesn't surprise me. Of course, I can be very cynical about these writing trope videos. Or trying to cater to the agent's manuscript wish list... or amazon key words.

I don't think this makes for good storytelling. If you love something and are passionate about it, write it. Who cares how many times it's been done before. You can solve problems in editing. Tropes serve a purpose. -goes off to grumble in old writer-
