Spaghetti is the worst noodle in all of creation. It's long and floppy and messy to eat but holds sauce poorly, it's a choking hazard for small children, it's too long for small pots, and somehow its fucking everywhere! I hate it so much!

When you put it that way, yes it is. Especially the part about it being too long for pots (I don't think I even own a pot big enough to cook spaghetti without snapping it to pieces beforehand).

But you don't need a big pot... I don't even use my big pot to cook spaghetti, the medium-small one is much easier to handle in the wash. Once the noodle has sat in the boiling water for a minute it'll soften enough you can use tongs to maneuver the whole thing into a pot previously too small for its uncooked state.

Do you snap the noodles in half, this defeating the purpose of making then super long? Or do you have them half in the water half out so they are unevenly cooked? Otherwise I don't really understand how you set a noodle in boiling water if the noodle is too big for your pot.

You leave the noodles full length. Once you put them in the hot water - even if half of the noodles are sticking out of the pot - the heat will soften the bottom part of the noodle and then they can be bent with tongs or a wooden spoon to drag the top half of the noodles into the water as well.

Pasta in general can either be about the pasta itself or it can be about the sauce

Spaghetti is a kind of pasta that, by design, only really works if it's about the pasta not the sauce. And that means that spaghetti is only really worthwhile if it's really high quality.
