Pffft, don't let that get to you.

DMC is not a srs game by any means, and I doubt the developers would want someone missing out on something so awesome just because they can't play it on normal mode or higher.
Just play it! You'll enjoy it, no matter what difficulty level you're on.
~~Which game are you playing, btw? DMC3's normal mode is apparently Japan's hard mode so uh... Yeah. It's not like playing on easy would be playing on easy anyway.~~

Ah, thanks for the encouragement =D I do still try to play it from time to time, it just gets frustrating to beat every mission on the fifth try or so and with C-rank.

I am playing DMC3 right now so that fact is kinda comforting. I didn't get past mission two in easy mode >_

Mission 3 is awful in DMC3. I had to switch to trickster style, level the thing up all the way and go down a difficulty mode to get past it. It kind of levels out after that though.

Don't feel too bad, OP. DMC3 is easily the hardest in the series. I still can't reliably get past Cerberus, and he's the first freaking boss!

Ugh, I know. It seriously took me a while before I figured out that switching to Trickster and going down a difficulty level would get me past him. D=

It's like the game's like "WERE YOU EXPECTING MERCY!?" and everyone else is like "A LITTLE MORE THAN THIS, JEEZ D:".

I think I eventually said "screw it" to my style score, stood at the back of the room, and just shot him to death. Cheap, and it takes for-freaking-ever, but it did the trick.

Same here. I was able to raise my style points up in later missions anyway. IIRC, I just jumped around the room using trickster to avoid his attacks and hit whenever I could. It took a while, but it got the job done.

I think Japanese developers must secretly hate us. Intelligent Systems did the same thing with Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, too. I'm really hoping it doesn't become a trend; controllers are expensive. ;_;

I think Fire Emblem has always been naturally "AUUUUUUUGHSZJDGSHJKHJSKBHGKRHSDG HJ RFG *chuck controller/GBA/DS at something*" though. At least for me, it has.
I love it anyway. :'D

I dunno though. I guess we deserve it for complaining that games aren't hard enough.

To OP: I think the special edition of DMC3 (With the option to play as Vergil) has the difficulty modes fixed to uh... not be Japanese hard mode as US normal mode.

THAT'S A... REALLY NEAT IDEA.
I was a 12 year old brat who still thought that attack was the best defense. Which meant SWITCH TO EASY MODE, BUY A SHITLOAD OF VITAL STARS AND MAIM CERBERUS' PAWS. It worked, sure, but LOL HORRIBLY LOW RANK. /FACEPALM

Moving on- skdhgkg I fucking love Trickster. It's not quite as OMGKILL as the other stances, but it gets the job done, and it keeps other creatures from killing you. :>

I don't think it's enough to beat Verg with though, even if it's completely maxed out. Laaame.

I LOVE IT, TOO. Now. I used to have a "kill them before they kill you" attitude, and it kind of worked too, but oh the low grades I got because of all the hits. Now I'm an aerial combo whore and my motto changed to "kill them discreetly" because hey being suicidal is ok sometimes but NOT ALWAYS.

Haha, it probably isn't, unless you're really good at avoiding hits. And always kind of panic when I have to do so because I start shouting JUMP OH GOD JUMP AHHH NO NO NO IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so um. Probably Swordmaster is the best choice. /facepalm

The thing is, Trickster was meant for avoiding hits, but Verg still hits you... I also don't think it has enough power to actually take him down. I can't remember. D= BRB MAXING ALL OF MY STANCES.

Yet suddenly I feel relieved. D: I remember when I first played the game - and was my first DMC game to boot - I was pretty butthurt that I couldn't get passed the Grimreaper guy in the Mission 2. WTF.

I refused to submit to easymode, but after what should have been a good hour of MASSIVE, MERCILESS ASS-WHOOPIN I couldn't do anything but gave in my sore beaten ass to easymode. ):

I'm better now though :D I even managed to get all the way up to Hard Mode, which that in itself is a great acheivement for me xD;; though not sure where I'm stuck at now, been a while I lasted loaded the game.

I have to say though, the stuggle was kinda worth it if just to play as shirtless Dante. I'm shamelessly going to admit that.
