I 100% believe that they do it on purpose to create drama. And I hate it. I want to see how good the bakers are at baking, not how good they are at coping when it's impossible to complete the assigned task.

And they've even started having the hosts say "Oh, we had no idea it was going to be so hot!" now but I don't believe them at all. They're dirty, dirty liars. They do it on purpose.

They always do this kind of stuff on purpose to mess with the contestants. I heard that they sabotaged the contestants on Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen like turning down the ovens, fiddle with the stoves, and I quit watching shows like this because I hate it, too. I just want to see the cooking and who wins.

They did that on great british menu too, randomly sabotaging things like freezers so that they'd always be scrambling at the last minute to chill things in a hurry and serve stuff to the judges that wasn't quite right just so they had something to bitch about. Something other than under/over seasoned; which is something that they fall back on when the chefs manage to pull it off anyway, which they obviously just do because they have to bitch about something and there is no way a viewer can write a sharp letter about how they are talking bollocks as there is no way to visually spot the fakery when it comes to seasoning.

It's silly, because what else did I expect, but this seriously sours me on Great British Menu.

I liked the lack of competitive atmosphere and the overall professionalism. But I should know better than to expect producers to support fairness over drama.
