Halloween cooking shows

Which ones do you watch?

well since it's currently marathoning anyway, I can admit to Halloween Baking Championship. Last year's covid precautions didn't hurt the show at all, it was still entertaining, but this year is super dumb and boring, I think I've watched one and a half episodes and don't care about any of the challenges or twists or bakers. It doesn't help that they're double-long, there's a reason cooking shows are an hour or less.

that's the only one tho. I don't care for wee children baking in any context and halloween wars makes me angry with all the absolutely wasted food. I don't care if you can eat straight up sugar, gum paste, and raw pumpkins, no one would want to. A food sculpture isn't edible, it's a waste. a nasty fondant-covered waste.

I like the Halloween Baking Championship a lot, especially Carla, I think she's so cool. I agree with the other poster about not being into the baking shows with little kids.

Midnight Mass

Who has watched it? Thoughts?

I started it and liked it (plus enjoyed hating a certain character) but then I got spoiled for the twist so now I don't have the biggest motivation to continue watching...

The twist of the monster? Considering that is obvious by midway, it isn't that big of a reveal.

I was spoiled after watching two episodes.

Watched the first episode with a friend. The show didn't hook us in, and we goofed off instead.

I enjoyed it far more than Bly Manor but less than Hill House. Flanagan really needs to cut back on the monologues. The lack of plot armor was refreshing.

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW

I am a bit confused why nobody mentioned what the "angel" was. Can't really blame religious fervor since even the non religious mentioned it. So I can only assume these people exist in a world like The Walking Dead. Only instead of no zombie media/lore, they don't have that creature.

Given the religious title and the fact that I don't watch a ton of horror, I assumed I wouldn't be interested in it and totally spoiled myself for it. Now I wish I hadn't. Seven hours is a lot of time to spend watching something where you know the whole plot.

I loved it, but I'm a sucker for very slow movies/show.
I actually started watching it without knowing anything about it. It popped up on my netflix recommendation and I thought "this is probably the usual trashy horror show" and WELL, I WAS WRONG.
I loved the loooong monologues and figured out the "twist" by episode 3 (I watch/read a lot of horror stuff and the show really is nothing original) so I was just watching for the grief/death/religious speeches. The end is predictable and kind of.. naive/too in your face? but I loved THAT final monologues about death.
I think this is a show that people who like to think about death and grief will enjoy. I read that some people think it's "preachy" and anti religious, but I don't really think so. You can say it's kind of pretentious, maybe? But I really didn't perceived it like that.
I wish more shows where slow like this, honestly. Such a gem.
