I like him and I understand his decisions more than I understand other supers. But ultimately I think there was always going to be a problem with making Civil War an ensemble film (do I think it was a Cap America movie? mostly. but it' very clear to me that they should have let the bucky search movie happen before the civil war movie. the people who are coming to a steve/bucky movie aren't really the same people for a tony movie). And I do think giving Edith to a teenager was a mistake.

That said the accusation of arrogance, hypocrisy, and self-centeredness is funny because that's like all half the avengers.
