Like OP of #1, I’d love for F!S to grow. But unlike that OP, I don’t even have fannish friends to recommend it to.

Any suggestions? Have you ever tried plugging the comm on another site?

I plugged it a couple times on my Tumblr back when I was active on there. I really haven't been active anywhere except here in a little while, though.

But not enough to support LJ anon’s insistence that this community would have been 100% better if it didn’t move to DW. That’s an unfounded claim, especially because LJ has been run so much worse in the last decade, regardless of it having more content overall(which is completely anecdotal, and I hope you know that it’s not a real argument to say “I’ve personally seen differently than what you’re saying”). The bots and DDosing are what made the move necessary, but LJ anon is so stuck in their entitlement of things not working out exactly how they wanted them to. So they completely lack perspective.

And it’s lead them to say some shitty things about Case, and some stupid things about trolls and ip logging(which they call nannybot).

I use LJ too, and even if AYRT isn’t completely correct about LJ being less active than DW, they’re both still ghost-towns. But LJ anon will continue to harp on about this as if they have any clue what they’re talking about.

Left LJ after all the strikethroughs and bans and Russian ownership and stuff but also according to some trolls people, banning trolls and occasionally turning on IP logging when they try and come back for rounds of "kill yourself" or other sterling contributions to the comm that we are obviously stagnating without.

Would it be possible to plug this website to non-fandom people on the premise that it's about shows and media moreso than fandom itself? You might get a bunch of normies and trolls for a while, but I think they'd either leave quickly or stick around and adjust.

As much as I love FS, I suspect that fandom has just moved on from this format. I also suspect that a lot of people who remember the good old days here and on LJ are old enough that they've moved on. Fandom isn't a very welcome or embraceable place these days, in my experience anyway.

Last of all, the new format of watching means there just isn't time to build the level of squee about fandoms. Questions are answered oh so quickly. Pairings rise and fall in the blink of an eye, kind of thing.
