I mean, you can comment on a post on tumblr (if the post has commenting enabled) Or reblog it, but there isn't anything like threaded comments and the notifications system is perpetually fucked. The commenting system on AO3's designed with conversations in mind. Tumblr's isn't.

Oh I’m not disagreeing with that at all. OP would be much better off on AO3, because it’s true that the commenting system is 100% better.

It’s just that that it is possible for someone to ask on Tumblr if they can use an imagine. You might not have been saying anything about that though, and I misunderstood that part.

Oh yeah, you're right about that. It's absolutely possible. I wasn't really commenting on that as much as that it's culturally enforced on AO3 in a way that it really can't be on tumblr because of the platform.
