I think murderhobo as a term did pretty much originate as an insulting term for dungeoncrawl gameplay.

But, yeah, these days it's not used so pejoratively or in quite the same way. Partly because that's not really an accurate description of what dungeoncrawling is necessarily like. And also because the whole idea of coming up with insulting descriptions for different styles of game, and insinuating that only your style of gaming counts as REAL gaming, is not nearly as common as it used to be (thankfully) (and also, to the extent that people still have that attitude, it's probably more common among the people who play dungeoncrawl-style games anyway).
