I kind of understand the shippers' point of view, though. Because rep is good, but sometimes not all rep is equivalent. Like imagine wanting Finn/Poe Star Wars to be canon (as two fairly prominent characters in the movies, who have had onscreen interaction and Oscar Isaac supporting the ship) and then somebody says, nah, don't be stupid, you should just be happy with those two background lesbians kissing in TRoS. Which is very ?????. Or what if Poe was randomly paired up with some unnamed male pilot at the end of TRoS who we've never seen in the prior movies.

I'm not saying that miniscule rep should never happen, but I can't help but sympathize with fandom for wishing for more from their main character favorites.

The whole reason this kind of main pairing will never happen is because Hollywood want to sell movies to China. :(
