I know this came up a few weeks ago I think, but I think to me it all boils down how specific the idea is and the final project. Because there's a difference between writing something that could have been inspired by any number of things you've read on the internet and fleshing out basically what would be a synopsis to a publisher.

This. A single-paragraph general-concept imagine is one thing. A detailed synopsis/fic outline is another. Personally I credit my inspiration no matter how minor, but some instances definitely call for it more than others do.
