I am not a Movie Soundtracks Person but my sense is that Zimmer actually doesn't necessarily have a great reputation among Movie Soundtracks People. Probably just from being overexposed.

i don't think i've ever seen someone say his music actively takes away from a movie. i'm sure it's happened but i haven't come across it

I've seen it in regards to the new Dune movie. People actively disliking the soundtrack and blaming Zimmer.

Am I the only person who was just indifferent to the soundtrack? I've heard lots of people hating on it. I know people who thought it was the best thing in the movie.

Whereas I just found it kind of unmemorable, bagpipe scene apart (that I did like).

I don't hate it, but I don't *love* it either.

It was fitting for the type of movie it is, but yeah, unmemorable, bagpipes aside. (Which is why it's joke in our household that it needs more bagpipes. Heh.)

That was my reaction to it as well. It wasn't bad, just...blah. The 80s movie at least had a fantastic theme, even if the rest of it was, to a greater or lesser degree, iffy.

ahh that would make sense i haven't been keeping up because i might want to watch it and was avoiding spoilers

It is very much worth seeing on the big screen if you feel comfortable enough to do that.

The sandworms themselves are worth it.

Soundtrack needs more bagpipes, in my opinion. Needs more... other things too, but that'd be spoilers.
