I am not a Movie Soundtracks Person but my sense is that Zimmer actually doesn't necessarily have a great reputation among Movie Soundtracks People. Probably just from being overexposed.

I don't know if it's the same sort of thing OP means, but I used to like readingwithavengeance.tumblr.com. It's mostly chapter by chapter recaps/reviews of YA books. Lots of snark, though, so if you're looking for something more positive it may not be for you.

Huh, I thought it was just me! I agree on the exceptions, though in the case of Gladiator, a lot of that was Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance. Academy rules meant that only Zimmer got the Oscar but he did acknowledge her and try to get the rules changed, so I respect that.
