God forbid parents from doing any actual parenting.

Of course this doesn't apply to every parent ever - but this always comes up with any who are willing to their kids see whatever they want on TV/Play any video games/go online without so much as a bare basic conversation about online safety; which ultimately lead to the same conversation on what has to be censored next rather than actually talk or teach kids anything.

I would think the goal is not to prevent your kids from seeing anything inappropriate ever - which is completely impossible - but being the kind of parent they know they can talk to if they see something that scares or confuses them.

Which, if you go too far the other way and become a controlling helicopter parent, you won't be. That only teaches kids to become really good at sneaking and hiding things.
