Honestly, this is another one of those things we can blame on parents being unable to integrate social media with parenting in an appropriate way. You’ve got parents who feel the need to let their kids watch whatever’s trending, either so they can show everyone else how cool they are or out of some misguided fomo bullshit, and then get upset that whatever’s trending wasn’t for them. The overall phenomenon is not unique to a specific generation, but millennial parents are especially prone to thinking that it’s Not Fair that there are trendy things that they shouldn’t let their kids play with.
