I enjoyed it and largely agree with her. In fact, I feel like her take was a lot less biased than the majority of pro-ship takes I've seen, which I found quite soothing. I say that as a pro-shipper whose OTP is a pairing that gets a LOT of anti-hate...or well, it used to anyway.

That said, if any amount of "both sides" talk is going to get your ire up, you definitely won't enjoy Sarah Z's video.

Eh, she also got a bunch of stuff blatantly wrong. The thing which got my hackles up was when she tried to say the old drama of the Steven Universe fan being bullied to suicide wasn't about antis/pro shippers and... Yeah, it was? One of the things she was bullied for was her SU ships, and it's v easy to find that if you look (I was a follower of the artist at the time so saw it all unfold and idk that just really left a bad taste in my mouth. if you're doing a video that mentions harm done to real people, then have some care)

Correlation doesn't imply causation. I used to write fanfics during the sporking era, and when people bashed my fics sure it made me feel bad, but the mean things people said about my fanfics didn't even cross my mind when I made attempts at ending my life. I had bigger problems than internet trolls. While I'm not personally familiar with this incident enough to judge if the anti bulling was the primary reason behind this person's suicide, didn't Sarah mention that they had family problems and this was their leading reason?

I dislike her because she sets herself up as a wise sardonic voice of authority. Because she had x fandom phase as a teenager in the 2010s, everybody else went through the same thing. It's supremely annoying. (Her SPN Destiel vid was also shittily researched and left out some things.)

Her "I'm so above it all" attitude is quite tiresome when she's discussing fandom. Especially when she makes mistakes that can be checked with 5 seconds of google and a bit of reading on specific tags on tumblr and twitter.

I mostly like her videos even if they are sometimes wrong, nothing is perfect. But her fight with Hannibal shippers was so stupid. It looked like she was baiting people just to say on video how pro shippers are wrong and agressive too. I am not saying that it's true, but this fight was so stupid and random I am being suspicious

I haven't bothered to watch that vid (or anything else made by her) since the Big Twitter Fight, because the way she acted all holier than thou mean girl before going to cry to all her breadtube friends about how people were being so meeeeean to her left a more than a bit sour taste in my mouth-- I am not surprised to hear that despite her trying to play the 'both sides' argument, the shittiest stuff shown in the vid is STILL by the 'anti' side, lmao.

I say this as someone with no real horse in his race, seeing as I don't meddle in that discourse and I block any and all people I see being shit on social media, no matter which 'side' they are on. It's an undeniable fact that those who define themselves as 'antis' have a vastly larger number of 'people being shit on social media' in it, as a subgroup.

I think the situation with her on Twitter was more complicated than that, and much less black and white in who was in the wrong or not. It was just an all around shitshow. But I do still think she let her experiences there color her perception of proshippers more negatively than proshippers as a whole deserve, and it made the video frustrating. I didn’t hate it(and I still like her videos as a whole), but it felt emotionally one-sided how she covered both sides. And it was based solely on her personal experiences, which isn’t a great move. It was also one-sided in who came out looking worse as well, and that was of course the antis she covered.

I honestly do think it’s a plus(even though it might have been unintentional on her part) that she still accurately portrayed antis as the more insidious group, even though she was trying to go for a ‘both sides’ approach. Especially because she clearly seems to dislike proshippers more because of the Twitter debacle. Because antis and their horrifying behavior deserve to be exposed to more people outside of fandom who might have been unaware previously. And it might help some open-minded people in her audience be able to spot some of their tactics in the future.
