I mean, the Roman/Byzantine empire and Alex the M's empire cover the same geographical ground, so I don't see why it wouldn't be doable with the Ottomans lbr the islamic part would be the real issue in the west. But I agree that portrayal of the various ethnic groups would, perhaps should, mean people are thoughtful about it (i...don't really think POC as a term is useful in this context), but again that's not really different for the roman or macedonian shows either.

The Ottomans would be a problem because they perpetrated genocide and have never apologised.

...as opposed to what other empires? I'm cool with just never valorizing empires, but you seem to be setting them apart from the Byzantine and Roman empires I mentioned which operated in the same area and also slaughtered people culturally...why? And moreoever, why would you not be able to depict that honestly?
