1. You should love your family no matter what they do. You should always do what your family wants. Family is the most important thing ever.

2. If he loves you, everything is okay, no matter what he did, if he loves you then everything he did is good or at least must be forgiven.

3. Redemption is impossible, once a villain always a villain, but also equally I hate when redemption is easy, people just forget what the villain did, and anyone having a reaction as a result of what the villain did to them is a jerk for not just forgiving them.

I worry about kids who have abusive parents watching movies that have #1 as a message.

Agree with all of these.

Re: 3., It's kind of weird, but I think that Xena actually did this well. The show never treated people who hated Xena for various "she razed my village and ate my grandmother" reasons as unjustified. Hell, even Callisto was treated sympathetically by the narrative because of her status as a victim of Xena's villainy. It didn't justify her being a murderous psychopath because of it, but they never shied away from Xena's culpability there.
