The worst part is, you can see where the creators who do this in good faith were going with it. "Your bully isn't some kind of super demon, just a fucked up person" isn't necessarily a bad thing to teach kids. The problem is that in real life, understanding that doesn't make the bully suddenly stop being an asshole.
Honestly, as a bullied kid, I always kind of liked "now that we know the bully's weakness we can use it against them" stories, but those are few and far between these days.
