DA That's the opposite to the actual storyline in the show. The plot is actually it's okay to take your time to figure out who you want to be and it's not set in stone.

DA: And even if you do have a specific talent? It doesn't have to define you and you can have other interests (The whole Rainbow Dash becomes an avid reader thing).

In the sense of messages, and redemption arcs for villains... MLPFIM did pretty well

DA It's pretty great. Lots of good messages for girls that you never see in kids programs usually.

Another DA

I tried to get into MLP: FIM, but just didn’t really jive with it, and dropped it after the first season. But I was still continuously impressed by the variety of good messages for kids. Including some that don’t get told in most programming, like you said. I’m glad it’s still popular enough to reach new kids.
