But I mean, the real meaning of "money doesn't buy happiness" is "prioritizing being rich over everything and everyone else will make you miserable," which is true. I don't trust people who hate that message too much, because they simultaneously preach a hatred for capitalism at the same time they act as if their ideal life is being rich and miserable and treating everyone like shit.

NAYRT - I think the original moral was more along the lines of "money won't make you a better person," which is true. But. The "money won't buy happiness" line is so often translated by modern media into "poor little rich child" scenarios. And while it is true that money won't bring your mother back from the dead or make your friends like you for who you are and not what you buy them, it is equally true that a person with no money who is otherwise in the same position as your poor little rich child is inherently worse off. Media tends to make poverty into a virtue, and it's not.

Nothing wrong with a healthy hatred for capitalism. More people should have it. It is the only way to an equitable as well as prosperous future for everyone and not just a few.

No it isn't. Ethical capitalism is. Make money and distribute it fairly.

Ethical capitalism is unrealistic. It’s never been done successfully.

What's your alternative?

(Forgot to say in my “ethical capitalism is unrealistic” comment that I’m NAYRT)

There’s no good alternative, that’s the problem. Capitalism is always abused and unethical, and ethical capitalism would rely to much on the honor of the honorless and greedy to make work. I would love if it did work FYI. I just don’t have any faith from history or current events.

I don’t know if socialism is the best alternative either, which I assume is what AYRT is for. It seems like the flaws in every structure outweigh the benefits if I’m being honest.
