Yeah, there’s a reason why I don’t rec the Mercy Thompson books to other people. Actually, there are a few, but. They were already up to book 5 when I started reading them, so I came in forewarned. And honestly, I read enough pulp in the 90s that the rape twist caught me less off guard than the part where Samuel is supposed to be likable.
