Is There a Series/Media That Gets You Instantly Angry?

(Anonymous) 2021-12-15 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Like how a story ended? A missed opportunity with a character/plotline? Bad casting or unfairly cancelled too soon? An Under-used character?

For me I'm still mad about Paul McGann not having a single series - nor having any screen time in the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who just because they wanted John Hurt instead (good actor but it was suppose to be set before the reboot began with the 9th Doctor and they didn't give him a cameo. And no the mini episode that you could only see online doesn't count).

I am forever angry about how Battlestar Galactica ended. My God, the mini series is *so* good and the show gets *so* bad.

A lot of mine have to do with ruined character development. My two biggest ones is Steve Rogers and Jaime Lannister. I'll never rewatch GoT and Endgame was the last MCU property I ever watched.

Another I can think of is the introduction of Negan on The Walking Dead. I hated him so much, I stopped watching.

I’m the anon who hates shadow and bone. I read the books and hated how they ended so I’m not interested in the show

Yeah. I'm not gonna say what, because I'm sick of people screaming at me for not liking it.

The Wicked Lovely series (speaking of YA) because holy crap. Consent issues on EVERYTHING. I hate read my way through book one and then noped the fuck out when the excerpt for book two was even grosser.

The Hobbit movies.

The last few seasons of Bones and House.

The last episode of How I Met Your Mother. I pretend it doesn't exist.

The Rise of Skywalker. Terrible.

The last season of Game of Thrones.

That Legend of the Seeker and Galavant didn't get a third season.

What happened to Donna on Doctor Who.

Steve Rogers' ending. The fact that Tony Stark took over the last few Avengers movies and everyone else's movies too. Even after he was dead. the fact that he got a funeral, but Nat's death was barely acknowledged.

What the DCU did to Superman.

Still pissed about the Xena finale. An entire series showing how Xena's worked for her redemption and paid for her sins, and then a finale where actually no see she did something even *more* horrible so she has to die because the writers planned the show end on her death right from the start and didn't want to admit the character had evolved beyond that.

Actually as long as I'm talking about Xena I'm still annoyed at the time skip too. Everything after that point just feels like a slow sad decline.

Enola Holmes. Mostly because they ignored the historical conversations on women's clothing and education but a bunch of stereotypical tosh about how Enola 'isn't like the other girls'. It was lazy.

And, oh yes, the heroine can use a *bow*. How... remarkable and cool, to understand an extremely common sport of the era. Well, I guess if you're ripping up your house to play indoors that makes it 'interesting'.

Sword Art Online.
Because I'm a petty and bitter .hack// fan. Lol.

I wasn't even alive during that time period, but I'm still pissed that Colin Baker got fired from Doctor Who. I really enjoyed The Trial of a Time Lord and it felt like Six was finally coming into his own, but then they just shafted him. At least Big Finish exists. I feel you on Paul McGann too. He should've had a bigger role in the anniversary special.

The ending of Supernatural really soured the series for me. I'm still baffled that they chose to end it that way.

I’m still mad that The Pearl Saga by Eric Van Lustbader will never get finished. The ending of the third book was such shit too!

Prometheus. WTF was that shit? Oh yes, let's take off our helmets on an alien planet. Oh yes, let's touch the alien lifeform. Oh yes, let's send a mixed gendered crew into space with a surgery machine that is only loaded for male bodies. Oh yes, run directly away from the ship coming at you instead of perpendicular. I don't have the space to write ALL the things that piss me off about that movie. It makes me mad every time I think about it.

One More Day. Most media that gets flak I can tolerate or even embrace as misguided attempts to make something of lasting value, but there's no way I can frame OMD as anything but spitefic made canon, done entirely for the sake of settling then editor-in-chief Joe Quesada's 20-year grudge. It pissed me off so much I swore off everything to do with Marvel until he leaves the company.

Grimm, and that whole mess with Adalind and Juliette. I’m still furious that Nick and Adalind ended up together.

Daria. The entire mess between season 3 episode 13 and Is It Fall Yet?, and the writers trying to pass it off as "lol teenagers amirite"

A Quite Place.
I hate stupid characters, especially in horror. Things out of place that are there for a drama, like this fucking nail. And everyone praising this movie was a blow.
Split. I hate this movie so much. I still have trouble seeing Anny-Taylor Joy in other movies without my eye twitching.
Anyway, every movie M. Shyamalan makes is a no.

For a more indie thing, I dislike Black Tapes podcast.

OUAT. Aside from generally shit writing that changed direction constantly after season one, two if I'm being generous, having writers and showrunners talk about it being a show for the whole family and then just keep showing rape and redeeming characters that make rape jokes and then actual rapists was rage inducing, especially when one of the writers kept making comments about how hot it was.

Only villains get to be sexy and evil is sexy and I'm into the fantasy of a hot woman mind controlling me and raping me=/= family show. Unless what they really meant was "it's a family show because every character is related to every other character."

I got super frustrated because I would've liked Regina so much more if they ever had her acknowledge and face consequences for Graham's rape and murder. I didn't even like Graham, but argh.

I hated Hook because he was a sexist, rape joke spewing bully, and Zelena because she was like Regina but with extra ick for raping one dude while disguised as his wife, who she'd killed, and sexually assaulting another, who she'd kept prisoner under her house, after gloating over and mocking his son's death.

And then, after seasons of this shit, fucking Hook got raped by a woman disguised as someone else, because one of the showrunners outlined with one hand in his pants or something. I don't care if it's a character I hate, I didn't watch a silly Disneyfied fairy tale soap opera to see rapes to rival fucking Game of Thrones.

Also, Sleepy Hollow. I assume someone super fucking racist joined the creative team after season 2 because WTAF. I didn't even watch it and I'm still fucking angry because holy fucking shit.

Star Wars TLJ (I'd add TRoS but I never actually watched it).

Seikaisuru Kado. Just. Burning hatred for what they did in the last few episodes. Nobody I know even watched it (and few people in general did or have forgotten about it) but damn. Such hatred.

Son of a Witch by that guy who wrote Wicked.

The Last of Us Part 2.

What happens after that "okay" at the end of the first game should have been left up to fanfic authors.

Star Trek: into Darkness, I fucking LOATHE that film and I am liable to complain about it at-length if it gets brought up. I would have been okay with it if Cumberbatch's character had just been your regular space-terrorist, but no, they crammed some stupid fan-service bullshit, which these iterations of movies had NOT earned in the slightest, into this movie in such a stupid way and then even un-wrote the death in 10 mins!

I hate it so much, I wish I could burn it from my brain.

The fact that S8 of The X-Files didn't just let Scully be the solo lead, searching relentlessly for Mulder every spare moment that she wasn't doing FBI work to keep her job. I mean, they could definitely have beefed up Skinner and TLG's roles so that it wasn't TOO much of a one-person show. And I can't remember if Krycek and Maria Covarrubias were alive at that point, but they could've showed up a couple times. Scully could've had her own Deep Throat character. Plus the higher ups at the Bureau breathing down her neck. The supporting case could've really shone too! God damn it, S8 so clearly should've been Scully's dogged quest to Find Mulder (with some MOTW stuff worked in somehow, because without it the show would've stopped feeling like itself).

BBC Sherlock, just in general. The pilot had so much potential, but the writers were hacks.

The Raimi Spider-Man movies. I just hate them so much. I hate almost everything about them. I hate the tonal inconsistency that swings wildly between camp and Super Serious Angsty Drama. I hate the directing choices. I hate the casting choices. I hate the fucking persecution complex that passes for a plot (literally everyone shits on Peter and nothing good ever happens to him and every single thing that can go wrong does go wrong, because if he is not Just So Very Persecuted By The Word every. single. moment. of the films it's not...idk, Id-ficcy enough for people or something? And Peter the sad-sack dumbass just fucking takes it and never stands up for himself, and also never just says or does the simple thing he'd need to say or do to avoid getting shat on.

I just hate everything about these movies. The narrative sensibilities, the style, everything.
