Sadly, it seems to be the LAUSD that would serve these characters. I think I may just take the easy option and make up a school. Sometimes the only sane response is to say sod realism and take the easy option. Thank you for the help though.

Pick an address/neighborhood, go to Zillow, and click on a house. That will give you the school district, and it probably hasn't changed unless the school is very new.

I was thinking of suggesting that, since fiction writers make up establishments all the time even when the setting is a real-world location. I've known people who read a fic set in their hometown and they were like "okay so yeah there is a restaurant with this name, but it's on the other side of town and is an entirely different kind of restaurant". So honestly even if you got the right school, if it's a real school, you might have someone read the fic who actually went there and noticed some detail that's off...

So eh. No one's going to rag on you for saying "That school doesn't really exist!" It really does seem like the sanest option, go for it. =)
