Oof, sorry you've had to deal with some of the same stuff. I hope you get a handle on it and find meds that work well for you.

There's no diagnosed cases of BPD in my family that I know of. The only diagnoses I'm sure of were depression (mom) and schizophrenia (dad), but a couple of uncles, my mom and dad's eldest brothers, ticked lots of boxes for ASD, and both my dad's brothers for obsessive collecting and hoarding.

I feel like if I had BPD, I would be manic more often? Mania sounds terrifying, but not familiar. Idk; I spend most of my time fighting executive dysfunction. I've only had one really nasty depressive episode that wasn't situational, and while my impulse control isn't stellar, it's not awful.

My dad had manic, delusions of grandeur type symptoms a lot, but the only thing that can make me focus, even for personal projects about my hyperfixations, is approaching deadline terror.

AYRT I'm LATE, but maybe you'll get this reply, who knows?

Rereading my previous comment it was pretty confused and I'm sorry, BUT I didn't want to imply that you probably have bipolar disorder like me. I simply wanted to say that I was diagnosed as such after seeking therapy for ADHD that for me personally was perceived as a milder, more treatable disorder (It's maybe not? But I've seen Bipolar and Schizofrenic people in my family and it scarred me. I still can't fully accept my diagnosis). You could have ADHD, BP, BPD or other stuff like simple dysthymia or C-PTSD or General Anxiety Disorder or maybe nothing like that but simple chronic stress.

If you have familiarity with mental disorders, it's probable that you have some vulnerabilities and it's important to check them out and seek help as soon as possible, even if you are not "ILL". It's nothing shameful and I'm covinced that ANYONE shoul benefit from therapy. ...I speak from experience. Starting therapy is one of the hardest thing I've ever done, BUT IT'S WORTH IT!

Take care!!! <333
