I kind of relate to this. I mean... people can play what they want to play but among the cosplay community these days it's like... anytime I don't recognize a costume and ask what it's from: "Genshin Impact!" It's like, yeesh, doesn't anyone cosplay anything else anymore?

Same thing happened with Overwatch and My Hero Academia not long ago, though, so it'll pass and there'll be some new hot thing that I don't have time/energy/money to get into soon enough. :D

I still don't know what a gatcha game is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask /meme

Also I have seen GI all over the place but it doesn't seem to be my kind of game. The menus look WAY too involved. I just started playing Monster Hunter World and the menus are my downfall lol, and GI's menus look 100x more complex.

Saaame. Doesn't help that I see so many people talking about how Genshin is what a gacha game "should" be. I tried playing it, found it terribly clunky on mobile and really not what I want from a mobile game anyway (I play mobile games when I have a couple free minutes or casually while I do other things, and Genshin required my full attention for long enough to find a save point), and I don't see the point in playing it on a computer or game system when I could just play a non-gacha game that doesn't make me pay money for my character roster. And just because it has a pity system doesn't make it any less predatory than basically every other gacha out there.

Also the old fogey in me is just tired of all these kids for whom this is clearly baby's first gacha constantly comparing other, older characters from other gacha games and being like 'OMG is this [generic Genshin character]'? No, it isn't. That character has been around for years before Genshin even existed, please play other games.

Tbh I feel like you handle it right other than feeling guilty you definitely don't need to. But that's just the kinda thing you can't help.

I often feel guilty for not getting along with /liking someone, especially when they're on the spectrum like me and I feel I should be more understanding. But sometimes guilt is irrational.

People are so judgey nowadays about fic and stuff people read and write, it's refreshing to see such a mature take on it.
