I still don't know what a gatcha game is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask /meme

Also I have seen GI all over the place but it doesn't seem to be my kind of game. The menus look WAY too involved. I just started playing Monster Hunter World and the menus are my downfall lol, and GI's menus look 100x more complex.

A gacha game is one where there's gambling involved - you have a certain chance of getting a character or item or costume or whatever and there's complex calculations about rarity and value and so on (plus some people who just want more things for their fave). This is all well and good, except that then if you pay real money you get a higher chance or more chances to get rare things (or extra storylines) and people get very sucked into that.

If it means anything, I found Genshin to be very good at easing you into the game. Once you get far enough in, it does get very involved, but when you first start playing, the game keeps things pretty basic. Just knowing how to level up a character and a weapon is enough to carry you through the early game and a lot of the mid-level stuff too. Between game tutorials and a few quick google searches I never felt like I was out of my depth, and I'd never played a gacha game before Genshin.
