God, that's a whole-ass mood. I don't have the money to commission people right now, but I applaud you, OP, I know that feeling. :D

Same. I don't plan on commissioning anything, but the frustration is real. I've never shipped anything this rare before, and I have to wonder if I'm the only one into this *right now*. There's some fic on AO3 and stuff in the tag, but it's old and inactive.

Now I wonder if this is something I've written for. Because if I knew someone was looking for it, I'd go ahead and post the chapters I never did lol. Is it in the DW fandom?

Every now and then I think of just taking my "someday maybe I can get medical treatment and this is the money I will use to pay for it" savings and giving up and blowing it on commissioning all my artist friends to draw my OTP, because it makes me as close to happy as I can get anymore looking at even my crappy artwork of them, and there was basically no other fan art of them out there even when the fandom wasn't dead. :P (And I can't take my money with me so might as well give it to my friends in exchange for a bit of happiness before I go.)

BIG mood. One of my big OTPs in my current fandom I shipped for a long time before they met, and once they did... one of them died. So despite all the potential I saw without them ever getting into a room together, they didn't really gain much traction once they did. If I had the money to commission art, I fully would.

I've been in rare pairs before and never thought to commission -- but I am going to commission something very soon for something that's less rare than a rare pair but still nothing written to my liking...good for you OP!
