Same. I don't plan on commissioning anything, but the frustration is real. I've never shipped anything this rare before, and I have to wonder if I'm the only one into this *right now*. There's some fic on AO3 and stuff in the tag, but it's old and inactive.

Every now and then I think of just taking my "someday maybe I can get medical treatment and this is the money I will use to pay for it" savings and giving up and blowing it on commissioning all my artist friends to draw my OTP, because it makes me as close to happy as I can get anymore looking at even my crappy artwork of them, and there was basically no other fan art of them out there even when the fandom wasn't dead. :P (And I can't take my money with me so might as well give it to my friends in exchange for a bit of happiness before I go.)

BIG mood. One of my big OTPs in my current fandom I shipped for a long time before they met, and once they did... one of them died. So despite all the potential I saw without them ever getting into a room together, they didn't really gain much traction once they did. If I had the money to commission art, I fully would.

I watched this, and it was excellent, but yeah... be prepared, the women do really awful things to each other. Really, really awful! But the plot is tight and the couple starts talking and planning with each other, less drama because of misunderstandings, etc.

I thought that the "representation" she wanted was queerness, which would apply to the m/m pairing. The fact that they're white and sexy doesn't invalidate the representation. It's a false dichotomy often used to discredit women liking slash, I know, but in fact, writing what you find sexy and being able to see yourself in it in some way is a fine and GOOD way to do representation. So yes, it's entirely likely she wanted to do m/m for queer rep and also for sexy guys. The two can coexist. ("But why not write f/f with sexy girls, then?" You'll say. I don't know, ask the multitude of lesbians who prefer to write m/m and have already answered this question a million times.)

I don't understand Pascat's initial gripe to be honest. The Dark is Rising is set in fifties rural Britain. If you're looking for a diverse setting, that is not it.

I will never understand the concept of hatereading. Life's too damn short and there are too many books I actually want to read for me to deliberately spend time on a book I think I'll hate just to pretend I'm proving some kind of point against an author I dislike.

eta: Weren't most current R/S shippers either toddlers or literal fetuses when Order of the Phoenix came out? Seems like they would care less about canon than OG Wolfstar shippers.
