I never shipped, but the fandom turned mild dislike into outright hate. Ugh. All the "almost canon" stuff before book 6 came out. The insistence that if you didn't ship, you were homophobic. The claiming the relationship between the two of them was stronger than the one between Sirius and James.

Personally I shipped James/Sirius since book 3. But even if I didn't, I wouldn't like Remus/Sirius, and even if I did like it I'd still be annoyed at the fandom. I really hate when fandoms are like that, even with ships and other things I love.

If you didn't ship, you are homophobic.

JK Terfling does not ship.

Huh, I guess that checks out after all.

? I'm not into Potter anymore. I stopped being into it even before JK's transphobia went public. But I did ship LGBT things when I was into it, just just not that ship. And also, you can be or not be homophobic regardless of your shipping preferences in fiction.

Ahhh yes. Someone else who (sorta) shipped James/Sirius. XD I didn't really ship in HP, but that was my immediate takeaway from the books and I kept having people tell me I was "wrong". Pfffhahaha.

I didn't hate the idea of post-Azkaban Sirius/Remus though. Particularly BECAUSE of all the reasons it would be pretty messed up; in addition to the stuff mentioned in the secret, I can't imagine that all that time in Azkaban left Sirius particularly psychologically healthy and in a good place for anything at all that would be sweetness and light. If I was going to read Sirius/Remus, it would have to be post-Azkaban and Remus trying really hard to deal with how completely f'ed up Sirius was and a whole lot of guilt/blame for how he got that way.

I've grown to hate it due to how many people I've seen using it as an example of JKR 'queerbaiting' them. There are a lot of issues with the HP books and a lot of negative things you can pin on JKR but not making a ship canon that she clearly never intended to be canon and gave no indication was going to be canon is not one of them. And most of the so-called examples of said queerbaiting are usually Remus and Sirius acting like they care about each other, you know, as close friends might.

Yeah, I remember some of the Wolfstar shippers were a bit hostile to Sirius/James and RemusTonks.
