(Anonymous) 2022-01-06 12:34 am (UTC)(link)And I've seen many cases where a native speaker may not consider the word necessary to keep in a translation, but at the same time they'll explain their reason as "Well it means *explanation of the meaning* but there's no word for that in English and you wouldn't understand it," almost in this patronizing tone of "This word is too deep for you, so just make do without it in your English translation, which will inevitably lose a big part of the original nuance, but that's just how it has to be, siiigh." TBH this happens with words in all kinds of languages, not just honorifics in East Asian languages.

Additional explanation...
(Anonymous) 2022-01-06 10:14 am (UTC)(link)Please translate the above turns of phrase into your own native casual speech or casual written language.
Bonus points if you can translate these things well into a conlang.
A conlang is an artificially constructed language. Relexes are not allowed. A relex is a heavily amateurish stab in the dark in the name of turning one language into another while also ignoring any and all possible cultural factors.
The invention or use of cyphers is also not allowed. Deliberate misspelling is also not allowed.
Sincerely, a very upset conlanger.
