I don't think the problem would have anything to do with pro vs anti shippers

It might well not, true. Just that it's something I think about when I do come across that kind of debate online, is all, simply because of how heated that particular debate can get.

But I do agree that the problem could come from any sort of fandom drama source out there, no matter how big or minor it is. I could think of a ton of big controversial moments in fandom that could cause issues for anyone wanting to get into the political realm.

Though others here make a good point that there might be instances where nobody would bat an eye, too.
