What show is it?

(Anonymous) 2022-01-11 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what this is about or who these people are, but I just feel this is a secret from Nurse Ratched anon.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-11 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Do it anyway.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-11 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's The Handmaid's Tale.

Ha, yeah, I've seen that comment floating around about the reason behind the stuff with the CW, which seems...a bit of a reach to me, to say the very least.

I'm not in this fandom, either, but I totally understand the fascinating with the ever-constant DRAMA. "Supernatural" is definitely the fandom drama gift that keeps on giving.

I've actually thought about this sometimes when I come across some pro vs. anti ship discourse somewhere, or some other kind of fandom drama. I could totally see someone using somebody's fandom past against them (or, conversely, using it to promote themselves) in the political realm someday. Because lord knows politics isn't weird as fuck enough already.

I don't watch the show, but I'm genuinely curious, any chance this is more driven by a higher than usual number of female characters in general (so perhaps females constitute the most liked and most disliked characters?) rather than the implied anti-female-character bias of the audience?
Or that women are among the more compelling heroes AND villains?

Funny thing is that I feel they jumped the shark in Season 6. Where do you think Lucifer jumped?

(Anonymous) 2022-01-11 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I get that vibe, too - I think it's the implication that disliking women characters is only ever misogyny.

The end of the last season was a little much for me, too- part of me revels in the over-the-top absurdity of it... the rest has cringed and started watching something else.

I don't think the problem would have anything to do with pro vs anti shippers
