well what are the beauty standards in the book tho? does she get more description than "superior magical beauty" in the book, and if so does she fit it?

This is from the book:

I had barely unlocked the door when it flew open and a tall girl pushed past me, surveying the room and then me with a critical eye. She was easily the most beautiful person I’d ever seen. Her wavy hair was deepest auburn, her irises large and golden; her skin was so smooth and flawless that she looked as if her perfect cheekbones had been carved from marble. She wore a cream-colored kefta embroidered in gold and lined in reddish fox fur.

Thank you so much! hmm, there's actually a fair bit of subjectivity here, imo, especially if there are ethnic or racial determiners of beauty in this universe. I understand OP's disappointment, but I actually think this description allows a lot of leeway on looks.

da

There's leeway on looks, but the character being unnaturally flawlessly beautiful is actually significant to her narrative positioning and character arc. I think the woman they cast is fine, but they should have made her up to look more polished and uncanny in comparison to other characters in the show.

Okay, from the picture above, she needed:

- to look like a natural redhead, instead of a bottle redhead. That shade of red screams 'cheap drugstore dye' and is a far cry from the deep auburn described

- to look way more polished and stylish
