Those are ALL good reads! And ones I've read several times, too.... Can we have 'all the books' as favorites?

(Anonymous) 2022-01-16 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's overstating the case by a lot.

Well okay, then.

Same, I've even ended up picking up a couple games I wouldn't have otherwise looked in to, let alone bought/enjoyed.

Oh yeah. Especially with my health, I don't post anything until it's finished and gone over several times to check for continuity and flow and so on. I have a couple WIPs out there I don't know if I'll ever get back to, as much as I was enjoying them, and I feel bad about that but I think after nearly 10 years no one expects anything more (though I have a ton of notes plotted out for how to end the one :/)

Muppet boobs freak me out, okay!

I'm also having complicated feelings about Uncle Deadly as a dashing Sheikh.

DA. I'm always very conflicted about Darryl because I'm neurodivergent and fuck it, if I could have a cure and be normal, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I get not everyone feels that way though.

Are you the Call-Troll anon? You wouldn't see it then.

I write character profiles, but usually when I get a bad case of writer's block. Most of the time, I come up with a character name and some details on their appearance and go from there. Their personality starts to come out as I write, but when I get stuck, I'll create a profile of them with a birthday, likes and dislikes, hobbies, favorite foods, class or work schedule, and things like that. That usually helps to unblock the creative juices.

I read a bunch of the Babysitter's Club books, but the only ones I remember clearly are Kristy's Big Day and Claudia and the Mean Janine.

I loved the Dear America books when I was a kid and I still have a few that I reread every year. Same with the American Girl books.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
ye, I watch the finished ones only.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-16 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Same, tho I might check out AO3.

History books for kids with pictures. My gran also read me Dickens and Jane Eyre. And something about kid detectives.

Re: New mattress rant (feel free to share your mattress rants, too)

(Anonymous) 2022-01-16 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
My current mattress is a Novaform memory foam from Costco, it's about 4+ years old and going strong. I love it and it's been really good firm support for my back. I did buy a memory foam topper for it, however, for similar issues. It's particularly noticeable if the ambient room temperature is on the cool side.

I have a similar approach where I try not to get too attached to Netflix shows...

Hah, yes. I mean obviously there are things that people did before the invention of pads/tampons (like thick cloths they would wash and reuse), presumably without drawing any attention to it, so I just go with "they probably handle it however people handled it in that sort of setting" and unless there is a specific reason to bring it up (like a missed period alerting someone to the fact they might be pregnant maybe?) it's not anything I would draw attention to either. And of course in stuff set in the future, can always handwave it as "science!" or in fantasy as "magic!"

Occasionally I've made use of chamber pots or the mention of someone going "to relieve himself" somewhere in my stories for the sake of plausibility, and plus the latter gives a convenient and always-reasonable excuse for a character to leave the group for a second and go off by themselves into the woods alone and maybe notice something...

The Jedi Apprentice series by Jude Watson.
So salty they retconned it, I read Master and Apprentice recently from the new canon and hated the changes.

Jumping in to say if a full hysterectomy isn't an option, OP, you can also ask about endometrial ablation. If your doctor's willing, it'll at minimum reduce your bleeding, and could stop it entirely, and it's a bit easier to get because while there's still the "but what if you want (more) babies?!" bleating, it's not major surgery.

And your stomach. Diet pills are fucking awful.

You should probably google HIPAA.

Thirding the IUD. I've had mine in for just over a year and I've forgotten what menstruating is like. It's wonderful!

(Anonymous) 2022-01-16 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Is the age of your crushes staying the same and only you getting older?

Re: Health-related question

(Anonymous) 2022-01-16 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Arthritis can strike at any age, and doesn't always follow a family history. But there's also a lot of other things it could be. Inflammation is sort of a general "something isn't quite right here" thing.

Definitely bring it up with your doctor next time you see them, and in the meantime, keep a journal to track the incidents - when it happens, what you were doing the day before, what you ate, if you took any other medications, what the weather's like, that sort of thing.
