Nothing wrong with being the lead in Hallmark movies. That's honest work right there. Punch-in punch-out lunchpail stuff.

Not at all. Some actors who might have bounced from soap to soap if they were around when 10 were on the air have landed on their feet at Hallmark and Lifetime. It seems like a nice gig.

I would imagine it's easier working for Hallmark type stuff than it is for the big stuff. More money in the big stuff but more stressful? Unless there's some unearthed darkness there I'm missing.

I mean, Hallmark is generally kind of gross in that the values of the channel are extremely conservative. I work background, and my zero-cleavage, barely-showing-any-of-my-chest blouse was too revealing for a bachelorette party scene. Most sets insist on no skirts above the knee. You can hold a glass of something that is implied to have alcohol in it, but you're not supposed to actually raise the glass to your lips. And of course the messages of the movies tend to be very conservative as well, though they don't come right out and say you're a stain on the world if you don't love Christmas, believe in god, and prioritize marriage and family life over all. There've also been accusations of racist shit, like an unspoken policy that white and PoC BG extras cannot be paired up to look like couples.

So like, as a person who thinks the channel's values are abhorrent, I wouldn't feel great about Hallmark being my primary source of income. However, I cannot stress enough how hard most actors are working just to work steadily enough to keep acting as their full-time job. So I really don't judge most actors for the gigs they take.

Also, there can be good money in Hallmark movies because Hallmark tends to dust them off every Christmas, so those residuals checks just keep rolling in year after year.
