I tried watching it. Loved the first arc, Blood Phantom. But Battle Tendency bored me.

I feel like I should keep watching to reach the part with the stands or whatever. That's supposed to be the best.

I've been a fan of Jojo for more than 20 years, when there was only the manga, and loved it because it's absurd and a love letter to various cultures. The humour is an acquired taste and I'm quite surprised that there are people online taking it so seriously.

For me personally, being Italian is a big part of why I love it. The trash factor goes up a lot when you're from here. Part 5 is top tier garbage *chef's kiss* Just perfection.

I'm a casual fan of the show. I'm not that into anime or mangas (I've only watched a handful of animes all the way through). I like the show a lot. I'm not active in the fandom at all. I don't know a lot about the fandom, but I did have to deal with a stan mansplaining the "true" seasons of the show to me once so yeah I don't blame anyone for not wanting to get into the show.

It's a fun show. I love the visuals. I like the music in the show and nods/homages to musicians in the show. I LOVE THE CAMP! I like a lot of the characters (but the show does suffer from having really seemingly interesting characters who end up being underused/pointless). The storytelling is creative. I like how the writers have epic plots that run through the course of the season as well as episodic episodes and multi episode mini arcs. It was most appreciated IMO in "Diamond is Unbreakable".
I think if you're really into creative creatures and monsters, colorful visuals and characters, people being way too fucking extra for no reason, and into campy stuff it can be a lot of fun to watch.
Oh, and this is a personal gripe, but the show's not good with female characters/relationships/dynamics/how they're presented and utilized. As the seasons go on it gets better (I'm on Episode 5 of "Stone Ocean" it's promising so far, I like Jolene and she fits right into the Jojo role!) but just be prepared for a lot of blatant and casual misogyny/sexism, especially early on. Even in the later seasons it can get tiresome. Like, it's OK to NOT sexualize every not-old-witch female character on the show, you guys.

some 10+ years ago I wondered, but in trying to find out anything substantive to give me direction, I learned that the mangaka traced Italian fashion models out of magazine photoshoots to design his characters. that's why everyone makes absurd duckface expressions instead of, you know, natural speaking/reaction faces.

noped right the fuck on out and now, all these years later, I am just as mystified as to the unironic adulation. this shit is worse artistically than all the other manga that get shit on for having terrible art, it's not better for that.

It's honestly as over the top and ridiculous as the character designs and names. That's why I find it funny. And the plot lines are just wild. The very first episode along is worth watching for the overreaction of all the characters. When you've got a villain named Dio (God in Italian), other characters named R.E.O. Speedwagon, and fucking Cioccolate (chocolate, also in Italian) wtf are you supposed to do? It's nonsensical, but I can see how it's not to everyone's taste. Hell, I only consume it sparingly.

I was like this too, I've avoided fandom in general for a long time. I hadn't watched an anime series since 2014 but I got recommended an ooc scenes compilation from the latest season on youtube and it mad me genuinely laugh with how absurd all the situations were. like no way this is happening!!! what the hell is going on in the best way possible.

I just recently finished part 5 and I want to start part 4 soon. (they're the most stand alone-ish parts without having to worry too much about previous lore)
I'm not sure what part you started with but I would suggest those two!!

I'm saying this as someone who can barely focus on shows/movies - its hard to capture my attention but because the show has such a nice colour palette/constant wtf situations I just wanted to keep watching. there's a few convenient ass pulls but they're so out there you can't even get mad. it was fun to genuinely enjoy something after so long. ;;

I don't know about any of the fandom drama (and I will steer clear) but the artists in the fandom have works that could go in the louvre.

maybe one day you can give it a try but it's okay also if you don't. it's definitely not for everyone.

OH YEAH Comic!BuckyNat is insane when you try to define their "real" age.
I personally headcanon Bucky as being younger than Nat and ignore when the canon tries to prove me wrong. Fuck those cowards.

Bonus: BuckyNat is my only and truest OTP for the whole Marvel Comic verse, but my absolute NOTP for the MCU.

I think part of what Lana did was deliberately prevent Warners from being able to make more Matrix movies by poisoning the franchise's well. They'll never escape this move, no matter what sort of reboot they think about trying. It really pissed her off when they said they were going to make this movie with or without her.
