I've tried to get into this series twice and once with the anime, and I just couldn't wrap my head around it.

I think part of what Lana did was deliberately prevent Warners from being able to make more Matrix movies by poisoning the franchise's well. They'll never escape this move, no matter what sort of reboot they think about trying. It really pissed her off when they said they were going to make this movie with or without her. Good luck with that next time, WB.

Seconding this. I was leery because I didn’t think West Side Story needed a remake, but just because something’s unnecessary doesn’t mean it’s not awesome. I loved this version and the changes they made.

I like to imagine the Third Doctor as my grandfather sometimes.

I kinda get this. Fictional scenarios where a student gets to be close to a mentor way beyond where the rules of professionalism would allow get to me a bit. I don't mean "close" in a sexual way. I mean, if you ever had a favourite teacher for example...characters like Buffy and Giles are a sort of wish fulfilment of a deeper friendship that reality wouldn't allow.
