Nobody said it can't exist? But some people may think it's superfluous. You are free to disagree.
But calling an adaption of a stage show a remake is a bit far-fetched.

Less of a stretch than you’d think, given the typical fan reactions to stage show adaptations. But if it helps you be less annoyed at the superfluity, you can call the new movie a revival instead of a remake.
