I'm on the fence with this. I'm pretty happy with the ship tease and subtext we got, but on the other hand, I just really wanted them to go all out, like they did with Uhura and Kirk. Plus, I didn't like the Ziyal/Garak ship they tried to push to shut the Garak/Bashir fans that were demanding a relationship upgrade up.

Garak could have used better taste in men, yeah. Though, to be fair to him, his options on DS9 were a little limited.

I think it could have been done successfully. I'm not sure if DS9 could have done it successfully. I don't know if this makes sense but I feel like, as a relationship, it would need to be done in a very British way, a way with British vibes, and the DS9 writing team was incredibly and unstoppably American.

Bashir is a good character, though. I like him.

Fair enough not to be into the ship, but I definitely read Bashir as being interested too. Confused, but interested.

It has been my opinion ever since I read The Crimson Shadow and decided that Garak/Kelas as depicted in that book works much better than garashir would have. It's really a pity Kelas was only developed outside of the TV show, so not many people really know about his later relationship with Garak.

I don't think she did anything that bad, just kind of catty, but it kinda reeks of sour grapes that she's not the new Martha Stewart and it's THOSE OTHER WOMEN BEING POPULAR'S FAULT, you know? More mean girls shit than racism.

Her recipes are pretty good.

So I never watched the show but I did read the book as a kid and I shipped Roxton and Ned very hard without knowing it, lol. Roxton just has a lot of panache and plays well with others!

I think there are a couple over 20k on AO3, although most of them are crossovers. As much as I adore S&S, I'm kinda not surprised, though? I'm guessing it's for the same reason horror fics are rarer than other genres. There's a certain sort of mood you have to find and sustain for a Sapphire & Steel fic, and it's not the easiest thing in the world. And, if you're doing casefic, a certain sort of old-school sci-fi/horror/fairytale general weirdness sort of plot. S&S really is sort of alien and abstract that way.

(I love it so dearly, though. Particularly the train station serial, that one was definitely the best. The photograph ghost children serial and the first serial with Lead were also really good. The goddamn haunted animal capsule on the roof was definitely the weirdest of them)
